At the end of June, an introductory seminar on the familyfriendlycommunity audit was held for municipalities. Participants of the seminar learned what the benefits of this audit are for their communities, what The South Moravian Region offers and how it contributes to the costs incurred, and what is required for cooperation. The opening speaker was Jana Leitnerová, Councillor for Social and Family Policy in the South Moravian Region, who not only gave assurances concerning the support of family policy by the Region, but also stressed the importance of the audit for the communities themselves.
Marie Oujezdská, Director of the National Centre for the Family, presented why we should be interested in family policy, what the benefits of the audit are, how the project was developed in Austria, the results, and examples of good practice. On behalf of the Regional Authority, Family Policy Officer Bořivoj Sekanina spoke about the history of the audit in the Region, the conditions of participation for municipalities, the phases of the audit and the actors involved in it, what the benefits are and what municipalities can expect from the Regional Authority. Mayor František Kroutil explained how the audit was actually carried out in Telnice and what was able to be implemented to make life better for families and indeed all citizens.
